City Study for Ube, Japan
Ube is a city surrounded by the Seto Inland Sea to the south and mountains to the north. The man-made line along the harbor and the shape of the city that cuts right into the foothills along the river are impressive. I incorporated the dynamism and contrast of these lines and curves into the sculpture. It was exhibited at the 26th Ube Biennale.
南に瀬戸内海、北を山地で囲まれた宇部市。港湾の人工的な線と河川に沿って山裾に食い込む街の形が印象的だ。この直線と曲線のダイナミズムやコントラストを一つの彫刻の中に落とし込んでいった。第26回UBEビエンナーレ出品作品。
